The Struggle of a Healthy Lifestyle.

When I thought up this blog, it partially came from somewhere inside of me screaming for help. Some change was needed, desperately.

It was not like my life was falling apart or anything, I mean, I'm relatively healthy, my grades are good, and my social life is doing fine... but something was off. I wasn't excited about getting up in the morning. Skipping breakfast and then eating an unhealthy lunch, going to practice, then coming home and staying up till the late hours of the night trying to catch up on homework. It felt terribly exhausting, barely doing anything yet feeling so burnt out, knowing I'll have to do it all again the next day. This is how it goes for a lot of teenagers, it's hard to find time for mental health, personal growth, and everything in between when we are barely scraping by with the bare minimum.

This struggle to live a healthy lifestyle is such a huge part of why I decided to start this in the first place; finding ways to make life more enjoyable without it feeling like another mundane task to check off a list. My goal is to make healthy living something to look forward to, rather than a constant drag. Because let's be real, who gets excited about choking down salads, or forcing yourself to run on a treadmill for an hour when what your body really needs, is rest? Maybe it works for some people, but definitely not for me. What I am really striving for is moderation. A lifestyle that is attainable, exciting, and leaves room for a social life... but more so my endless hours of homework.

So what does all of this entail? This means doing what works best for you. Moving your body in ways that fulfill you, eating what fuels your body the best, and helping the community in ways that make you inspired and passionate. There shouldn't be rules and regulations on how to live your life, and there is definitely no "end all be all" to healthy living.

This website isn't here to shame you for all your "unhealthy habits" or tell you exactly what to do and how to do it. The only goal is to provide inspiration, maybe the things that work for me work for you, maybe not. We will be giving you ways to make every day one percent better, or simply just the drive to find your own definition of healthy living. Either way, One % Better will be here for every step of it.
